Synopsis

Young Jim Hawkins discovers a map to a buried treasure after a pirate named Billy Bones dies at his parents’ inn. Jim, Dr. Livesey, and Squire Trelawney organize an expedition aboard the Hispaniola to find the island and the treasure. They hire a crew led by Captain Smollett; among the crew is the seemingly trustworthy cook, Long John Silver, who is in fact the charismatic leader of a hidden band of mutinous pirates.

Once on the island, Jim overhears Silver’s plot and escapes, witnessing the mutineers seize control of the ship. Jim joins forces with loyal crew members and befriends Ben Gunn, a marooned ex-pirate who has already found and moved the treasure. After skirmishes, betrayals, and shifting alliances, the loyalists retake the ship. Silver deserts with a portion of the spoils but spares Jim’s life. In the end, the adventurers recover most of the treasure and return to England, tempered by their experience and disillusioned by piracy’s darker realities.
